Work With Us

Counsellors, interpreters and volunteers

We want to hear from you!

Counsellors

We welcome interest from professional counsellors who have a Master’s level of education, are registered with a professional governing body, carry professional liability insurance, and have several years of practical experience working with clients presenting features of grief, loss and/or trauma.

The ability to speak and work in another language is very helpful, particularly in Arabic, Spanish, Chinese, French or Tagalog.

Part-time contract work may be available to suitably qualified people, depending on our needs at the time.

Please send your resumé with a covering letter to Adrienne Carter at info@viccir.org

Interpreters

VICCIR values our interpreters very much. They are a critical aspect of the counsellor-translator team. They must speak verbatim both sides of a conversation, that is, the language of the client to the counsellor, and the language of the counsellor to the client. The work is focused, intense and can be very rewarding.

Translators receive training for this unique role, Following each session, they have opportunity to discuss and process the stories they have heard and the emotions they have experienced. They must respect confidentiality at all times.

We are looking especially for people who speak Arabic, Spanish, French, Mandarin, Tigrinya, Tagalog, Thai, Punjabi, Vietnamese, and Portuguese in addition to English. Part-time contract work may be available to suitably qualified people, depending on our needs at the time.

Volunteers

VICCIR was founded by volunteers, and we continue to depend on a volunteer family to support our clients, counsellors, administrators, and in various community activities.

VICCIR recognizes that volunteer positions must provide opportunities for meaningful experiences and making a difference, for learning and becoming a part of a community. We will do our part to make that happen.

We have a broad range of duties and tasks that need to be addressed. For example, we would appreciate advisors in many areas – finance, human resources, legal matters and administration. We welcome those who are interested in managing/monitoring our Facebook page and perhaps other networking sites, assisting with administrative duties, bookkeeping, child care (while mothers are in 2-hr. groups), translating. We are pleased to meet those who have training in dance, movement, and yoga. And of course, there are fund-raising events, and we welcome your participation in helping us to organize them.

To volunteer with us please send an email to volunteer@viccir.org
